In honor of the new legislation that was passed by the CA legislature, this week's debate topics are all related to GLBT issues. Please find a new story related to anything GLBT, could be an event or a celebrity or anything and blog about it. Also, I expect a few sentences of reaction to the two films we watched last week. You could talk about anything there as well, the content, the style, the effectiveness, the genre of film, etc.
There are a great deal of famous activists and perhaps you could familiarize yourself with a few. Ellen is a big one, Elton John, Neil Patrick Harris, there are a lot of celebrities as well who do activism. Also, the film Milk from 2008 received lots of recognition for bringing the history of GLBT issues into light. So if you have the chance to see it please do. The topics for this week are:
THW give all couples the right to marry.
THW remove "Don't ask, Don't tell".
THW actively stop bullying at schools. (think how and think about how this ties into why these issues should be taught in schools).

There is an show called the Paws with Pride dog show which is now starring it's 2nd year. It is categories as a GLBT event. Twelve differnt classes of dogs will enter in for this. The judges look for the feelist fur, campest, and butchest dress that the dogs wear.

In the movie waiting for superman I was surprise that the kids in the movies had to use a lottery just to get into a good school. Their are a lot of bad communities in this world that if a child is born in that community then they would have to go to that school. Since many good schools only allowed people from their community to join, then the kids that want to learn in the bad community can't go there. Just because they were born in that comunnity they usually have to go to that school. Also in the movie it mention that a lot of teacher have this contract that allows them to keep their jobs no matter how bad they were. So what the principals does is they throw the teacher into the other school. Soon the other school throws them to the other schools. And then the cycle keeps repeating.

This short film was musical and awkward. The two fast foods places were constantly fighting and competeing. Even though they basically made the same thing in a diffent way they refuse to cooperate. But at the end, since each side had the different stuff to make it they work together to make the food for people.
